Getting a dental bridge is a common procedure used in restoration dentistry. For those with missing teeth in a row, dental bridges can provide a solution without the need for a denture or dental implant.

A dental bridge consists of two crowns and a replacement tooth (or teeth). A crown will be placed on the two teeth on either side of the open space and a fabricated tooth (or teeth) will fill the space in between.

You never want to leave a space empty where a tooth should be as teeth can eventually begin to shift. A dental bridge can not only help fill the gap but also provide the following benefits:

How many teeth can be on a bridge? 

A dental bridge can typically be used to replace between one and four missing teeth. Keep in mind that these teeth have to be in a row. 

Can a dental bridge be done on the same day? 

There are different factors that may impact whether or not a dental bridge can be done on the same day. But, yes, it is possible. 

How long after an extraction can you get a bridge? 

After an extraction, you will have to wait for your gums to settle and reshape before you can move forward with the bridge. This may take a few months. 

Can you eat like normal with a dental bridge? 

Yes, you can. A dental bridge will function just like normal teeth and will therefore allow you to eat as you normally would.
